Omaha Bass Anglers - By Laws

PREAMBLE


Desiring to perpetuate the best tradition of competitive bass fishing, to promote conservation. goodwill, and teach our sport, the bylaws of Omaha Bass Anglers are hereby published.

ARTICLE I


The Omaha Bass Anglers, hereinafter referred to as the Chapter, shall be affiliated with Bass Anglers Sportman's Society.

ARTICLE II


MEMBERSHIP, INITIATION FEES, DUES, AND SEPARATIONS

Section I, Membership


a. Active Membership is available to anyone 18 years of age or older. Only active members in good standing are eligible to hold office or have voting rights. In addition to being a paid memaber, one of the following conditions shall be met in order to be considered an active member in good standing:
Have attended a minimum of 50% of the club meetings for the year
Have participated in 50% of the club tournaments for the year
b. An active member in good standing must recommend all new members for membership. Full membership will be given to nominees by a 75% vote of the members present at a regularly scheduled meeting. The first year of membership will be a probationary period.

b. Associate Membership is being exteded to all active member family members between 16 and 18 years of age. Associate members are not eligible to hold office or vote.

c. Honorary Membership shall be extended to any person, for life or a shorter period, when such membership serves the objectives of the Chapter. Honorary members are not eligible to hold office nor shall they be authorized to vote.

d. Resignations are submitted to the President. Dues are non-refundable.

Section 2. Dues and Separations


a. Dues will be assissed at the rate of seventy-five dollars (75.00) per year for all active and associate members. Membership will include the charge for membership in the Nebraska B.A.S.S. Federation. Dues are payable when joining the Chapter and each October thereafter.

b. Any member whose conduct tends to bring discredit upon the Chapter may be suspended from membership upon recommendation of any member giving sufficient justification and by a majority vote of at least a quorum of the membership. The majority of active members present at the general or special meeting shall determine the period of suspension.

c. As of 31 December of each year, the checking account balance shall not exceed $100.00 of un-obligated funds. Additionally, as of 31 December of each year, 80% of the total account balance will be set aside for the eight-person state tournament team. The 80% will come from the total funds collected as of 31 December each year. Once the 80% is distributed nd the account still has a remaining balance exceeding $100.00 of un-obligated funds additional monies shall be added to the state team.

MEETINGS


1. The regular business meeting will normally be held on the second Monday of each month unless otherwise directed by the President.

2. The tournament partner draw meeting dates will be determined by the Tournament Director or in his/her absence, the tournament committee.

ARTICLE IV


ELECTION AND APPOINTMENTS


Election of officers will be conducted in September of each year with the installation of newly elected and appointed officers being affected at the October meeting.

ARTICLE V


OFFICERS


Attendence by the officers and committee chairperson at the club meetings is paramount to the orderly conduct of business. Therefore the President may relieve any officer or chairperson who cannot regularly attend meetings of all assigned responsibilities and appoint or elect a replacement in accordance with the Constitution.

ARTICLE VI


TROPHIES AND AWARDS


1. Trophies will be awarded for the following achievements based on Tournament Rules and results:
a. Club Champion - Most Points Awarded for Best Seven (7) Tournaments during the year.
b. Angler of the Year - Most Weight
c. Big Stringer - Heaviest One day Weight Total
d. Big Bass - Heaviest Bass caught during a One Day Tournament
e. Rookie of the Year - winner cannot have participated in previous tournaments
f. Final points positions #2 through #8, with #2-#4 as boaters on the State Team and #5-#8 as non-boaters on the State Team.

2. The Champions Plaque will be passed to the new Club Champion.(nametag)

3. Sportsman of the Year will be voted on based on year long sportsmanship and the winner will be awarded a jacket.

4. The 'Traveling' trophy will be voted on and passed to the winner based on the member who had the most 'memorable' incident of the year.(nametag)

5. Written input for Sportsman of the Year and the Traveling Trophy will be used to decide the winner and is due by the October meeting to the Vice President.

ARTICLE VII


GOVERNMENT


The Constitution and these bylaws shall govern the Chapter.

ARTICLE VIII


AMENDMENTS


1. Any member can propose amendments to the bylaws. Amendments must be submitted to the Secretary in writing. The Secretary will offer it for discussion at the next regularly scheduled meeting or at any special meeting called for that purpose. The membership will not vote on a proposed amendment to the bylaws unless adequate publicity has been given.

2. These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present for a meeting.
